It was as a teen that I was first inspired by the guitar's versatility and power to captivate and that I started my life-long passion to entertain; I continue to play to audiences across the UK and Europe.
After many years playing in groups as varied as ceilidh and jazz bands, I now specialize in solo fingerstyle/classical guitar and have developed my own sound, not restricted by genre. My repertoire embraces classical, flamenco, blues, jazz and folk.
Two teachers have had a big impact on my technique and approach to musicality, whilst I was a child: the classical guitarist Derek Faux-Bower and as an adult the director of classical guitar at the Royal Northern College of Music: Craig Ogden.
I always hope my love for the guitar comes over in my approach to teaching; over the last 30 years I have inspired hundreds of students to develop their skills and to begin their own musical journey.
